ActualRep

Community Charter

This is the short, plain-language version of the rules you agree to when you check the box at sign-up: "I agree that my posts are public and I will stay respectful and lawful." It sits alongside, and does not replace, our Terms of Use, which are the binding agreement. Where the two differ, the Terms of Use prevail.

Your posts are public

Everything you post on ActualRep (reviews, ratings, forum threads, replies) is visible to anyone, including people who are not signed in, and may show up in search results. Do not post anything you would not want to be public, and do not include private information about yourself or anyone else.

Post from genuine experience

Say what you honestly think about a domain, but base it on your own real experience or on facts you reasonably believe to be true. Do not fabricate reviews, do not post about a domain you have no basis to judge, and disclose any conflict of interest. Buying, selling, trading, incentivising, or coordinating reviews is not allowed, whether the goal is to boost or to bury a reputation.

Be respectful, factual, and lawful

Stick to what you know or experienced. Do not make claims you know are false, and do not attack people. No defamation, no harassment, and nothing illegal: that covers threats, hate speech, doxxing, scams, and anything else that breaks the law where it is posted. You are responsible for what you post.

Everyone can reply

If someone posts something you disagree with, the answer is to reply, not to silence them. Verified domain owners get a free right of reply to any review or post about their domain. We encourage this kind of counter-speech: the best fix for a one-sided review is usually a clear, factual response, not a takedown request. We do not remove or hide genuine content in exchange for payment. An owner can also declare, for free, the entity behind their domain: it is then shown as "Verified" (confirmed by an official register) or "Declared" (self-reported, not verified by us). The reputation score is an automated signal drawn from the community, not a judgement by ActualRep.

Reporting and folding

If you see content that breaks this charter, you can report it. We generally do not delete reported content outright; instead it gets folded behind a "reported" banner so readers have to actively choose to expand and read it. This keeps a record of what was said while flagging that it is contested, and avoids one person unilaterally erasing another person's speech. Manifestly unlawful content can be reported at contact@actualrep.com and is acted on promptly.

Consequences

Posting too quickly or too often can trigger automatic rate limits. Repeated reports against your content, or a clear violation, can lead to your pseudonym being reset (a forced rename), more of your content being folded, or your account being suspended or terminated. The goal is not to punish honest, critical opinions; it is to keep the platform usable and trustworthy for everyone.
